Eco News Network presents our favorite eco-celeb of the week. We love seeing what celebrities are up to, and that doesn’t mean when it comes to movies, television or music albums, but with how they’re giving back to the planet. This week, talented actor Mark Ruffalo caught our eco-friendly eye for his avid work with environmental issues. Check out how he protects Mother Earth.
When Mark Ruffalo isn’t showing off his talents on the big screen, it seems he spends a lot of his time protecting the environment. From fighting climate change to supporting oceans to using renewable energy, Mark does it all.
As a huge spokesman for fighting climate change, one of Mark’s major tasks included speaking out at Occupy Wall Street in New York. There he strongly protested against the Keystone XL Pipeline and encourage others to fight a good fight.
“We are fighting against climate change. Climate change is real; it is happening now, not tomorrow. They want to keep us addicted to oil, to gas, to coal, to nuclear. We are the sunlight revolution,” the actor said.

Speaking of the Keystone XL Pipeline, Mark also walked alongside 10,000 protesters at the White House in 2011. There he pleaded with President Obama to “make good on his promises of a real renewable energy policy for the United States.”
He continued, “Now this President came into office on the promise of change. We are expecting it and if we don’t get it from him… we are going to leave him behind. This is a direct democracy action. It is an action that is… is not just stopping here but going to be moving forward.”
That’s one passionate man.
In addition to climate change, Mark also thinks highly of solar power and renewable energy. For example, the Oscar-nominee added a solar array to his farm in New York thanks to Sungevity, a solar company.
“We are the innovators, we are the leaders, and I am watching the world leaving us behind,” he told the Sullivan County Democrat. “I don’t like it. I feel like we are being had by the fossil fuel industry, which has no real commitment to our community or country. I want to walk the walk and talk the talk. I have to be part of the solution. This is one step closer to me being the world citizen I believe I can be.”
Just like his Hulk character in “The Avengers” Mark gets angry, but all for a good cause. Let’s give him a round applause for his eco-work!
