Eco News Network presents our favorite eco-celeb of the week. We love seeing what celebrities are up to, and that doesn’t mean when it comes to movies, television or music albums, but with how they’re giving back to the planet. This week, singer and actor Jared Leto caught our eye, as he sticks up for animals and contributes greatly to the environment. See how he lends a helping hand in protecting Mother Earth.
For those of us who were fans of “My So Called Life” best remember Jared Leto as the dreamy Jordan Catalano. Now, at 40, he is still as gorgeous as ever, not to mention talented, and is an avid advocate for the environment. If that doesn’t say eye candy, I don’t know what does.
Let’s put Jared’s good looks on the back burner, for now, and focus on his environmentalism.
If you didn’t know, Jared is a skilled musician and is the lead singer for 30 Seconds to Mars. He and his bandmates are quite adamant about protecting the planet.
For example, in their “A Beautiful Lie” music video, they crafted their song around global warming. It’s rather more of a short documentary than video, as it’s over seven minutes and has different facts about climate change popping up every so often. They even shot the video 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle. That’s commitment. Be sure to watch the video at the end of the article.
“We all know by now that our planet is in deep trouble. We have abused it horribly and we are paying the price. It’s time to try to do what we can, both as individuals and collectively, to find better and kinder ways to live. It’s not our right; it’s our responsibility. We are all guilty. We can all change,” Jared said.
In addition to global warming, Jared also remains cruelty-free by maintaining a vegan diet. Not only does Jared say no to meat, but so does his entire band. He likes to get into the spirit of eating healthy, as he even offered once to cook vegan pancakes live for his fans. Jared cooking? Yes, please!
If that doesn’t show you his love for the environment, I don’t know what will. But, here’s one more thing. He is a huge supporter for WildAid and doesn’t hesitate to speak out for animals. He uses his Twitter to show such respect, and recently tweeted out against fishing trawlers.
Did he just get a little bit more handsome in your eyes? What a great role model for everyone and I’m sure Mother Earth is sending a thank you as we speak.
